CONCORD, N.H. — Officials say a New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officer and an Appalachian Mountain Club member helped rescue an injured hiker on a trail near Mount Madison.
Officials say 44-year-old Brad McKean of Cincinnati, Ohio fell down during a wind gust while hiking on the Osgood Trail about 1:30 Thursday afternoon.
He used his cellphone to notify his wife and she called 911.
Conservation officer Matt Holmes reached McKean by phone and proceeded to the Great Gulf trailhead. Meanwhile, McKean borrowed a light from another hiker and was slowly making his way down the trail when AMC member James Wrigley arrived to assist. He helped get McKean back to the trailhead at about 8:25 p.m.
Holmes said McKean was wearing proper hiking clothing and gear.
