BIDDEFORD — A 15-month boy who had been riding in a bicycle seat is in critical condition along with the man riding the bike after they and another bicyclist were hit on the sidewalk by a small pickup truck in Biddeford, local police said.

Jamerico Elliott, 51, of Saco, had the boy in a child bicycle seat when they were hit at about 6 p.m. Friday on Route 1.

Elliot and the child, whose name was not released, were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland where they were in critical condition late Friday, said.

Another bicyclist, Melodie Brennan, 30, of Saco, was also hit. She was treated and released at an area hospital.

Police say the bicyclists were hit by a northbound pickup truck driven by David Labonte, 56, of Kennebunkport that crossed the centerline striking the bicycles on the sidewalk.

Labonte’s vehicle then hit a parked vehicle, pushing both vehicles into a home. The force of the crash pushed a granite foundation block into the residence, causing a loss of electricity and water, police said.
