LIMINGTON – Authorities said a Standish man remained in critical condition Sunday evening following a Saturday afternoon accident that forced police to close Ossipee Trail in Limington for three hours.

Chief Deputy William L. King Jr. of the York County Sheriff’s Office said a witness told police that a white Chevrolet pickup truck operated by 53-year-old Michael Grant left the road in the vicinity of 64 Ossipee Trail around 4 p.m. for no apparent reason.

When police arrived, Grant was talking with rescue workers, but when he left his truck, he went into cardiac arrest, King said.

Paramedics from the Limington Fire and Rescue Department performed CPR on Grant. He was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Speed does not appear to be a factor. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
