WATERVILLE — A College Avenue woman is facing two misdemeanor charges after police said she punched a nurse and threatened a doctor in a hospital emergency room.

Kimberly Bartlett, 22, allegedly became enraged and made threats after hospital staff tried to discharge her from MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer campus on Monday night, said Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

He said Bartlett first made a statement about killing a doctor and wanting to blow up the hospital.

She then went to the emergency room front desk, tried to go behind it to find the doctor she made the earlier threats against, he said.

When a nurse tried to stop her, Bartlett punched the nurse in the chest, Rumsey said.

Officer Kris McKenna was already at the hospital with another person police took to the hospital, and arrested Bartlett.

Rumsey said she was taken to the Kennebec County Jail and held at a $1,000 cash bail. She is set to appear in Waterville District Court Oct. 1 for charges of assault and terrorizing, both class D.
