Sacred Harp Singing, 2 to 5 p.m., at St. Paul’s Union Chapel, Dutchneck Road, Waldoboro. There will be a potluck supper, so bring a dish to share. Beginners are welcome. Blessing of the Animals, 4 p.m., annual event sponsored by Union Church and held on the lawn at 1 Bayview Ave., Biddeford Pool. There also will be a demonstration by pet behavior consultant George Quinlan and special guests from the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk. Donations of money or pet food and supplies will be accepted for the Animal Welfare Society and Lucky Pup Rescue. All animals, leashed or caged, are welcome.

Other

Maine Knights of Columbus has donated $20,000 to both St. John Regional Catholic School in Winslow and Mount Merici Academy in Waterville. The $40,000 total came from the sale of a building owned by Maine Knights of Columbus Council 148 in Waterville. The schools plan to use the money for tuition assistance and scholarships.

Bishop Richard J. Malone, apostolic administrator for the Diocese of Portland, has announced the following priest assignments:

Father Francis Morin, the administrator of St. Michael Parish in Augusta, has been appointed administrator of Sacred Heart Parish in Hallowell. He will remain as administrator of St. Michael Parish. Morin succeeds Father George Hickey, who died Aug. 9.

Father Dominic Savio, HGN, currently in residence at Good Shepherd Parish in Saco, will become the parochial vicar at Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville, effective Sept. 1. Savio is a member of the Heralds of Good News, a missionary society of apostolic life from India.
