BELGRADE — Maine First Lady Ann LePage is welcoming a group of disabled veterans and their families to a new camp in Maine.

LePage will speak at the Travis Mills Project National Veterans’ Family Center on Wednesday.

The center, which opens for the first group of veterans this week, is located at Camp Kennebec near Salmon Lake in Belgrade. It’s fully accessible and offers sports such as skiing, golf, tennis and volleyball for disabled veterans and their families.

The idea for the center was developed by U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills. Mills lost portions of his legs and arms due to an IED explosion during his third tour in Afghanistan.
