A group of Lipizzan stallions, a rare horse breed started in Austria in the 16th century, will perform their famous acrobatics in Buxton this weekend.
The white stallions were originally bred and trained to kick and leap into the air to combat foot soldiers in battle. They now perform the same precision battle maneuvers in shows around the world.

Under the direction of Gabriella Herrmann, the Royal Lippizzan Stallions will perform at Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center on Friday at 7 p.m., on Saturday at 2 and 6 p.m. and on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Part of the proceeds will benefit the riding center. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
The Royal Lipizzans date back to the 16th century when they were used by the Hapsburg Royal family of Austria.
