Two Fly Contest

Sept. 20 and 21, Bethel

The Upper Andro Two Fly Contest and Northeast Drift Boat Championship will be held in conjunction with Bethel’s Annual Harvest Fest. The competitions are the annual fundraisers for the Upper Andro Anglers Alliance, a nonprofit group dedicated to the conservation and protection of the Upper Androscoggin River. Contestants may use only two flies during the event, which starts at 6 a.m. Saturday. Teams may launch from public sites from the Shelburne Dam in New Hampshire to Rumford Center. Teams of three consisting of two anglers and a referee/oarsman must fish from a drift boat. All fish must be released live. The contest is limited to 20 teams. Striper Hunt

through Sept. 15, Casco Bay

The Casco Bay Anglers Club and Coastal Conservation Association-Maine are co-hosting the state’s largest striped bass fishing tournament. All proceeds from this monthlong catch-and-release tourney benefit the Coastal Conservation Association of Maine. The tournament includes a fly fishing division, spin division and youth division. Bangor’s Beavers

5 p.m. Sept. 21, Bangor

The Bangor Land Trust is hosting a presentation on beavers. Explore beaver habitat and learn how these animals live. Come to Walden Parke to see beavers on Walden Parke Way off outer Essex Street. Call 942-1010.
