YARMOUTH – North Yarmouth Academy scored two goals in the first half to beat Traip Academy 2-0 in a Western Maine Conference girls’ soccer season opener Friday.

Chloe Leishman scored the first goal off a deep midfield pass from Mary Noyes. Jillian Bjorn-Caron converted a cross from Alex Wahlstrom for the second goal.

BIDDEFORD 2, BONNY EAGLE 1: Peyton Janelle picked up a deflection off the keeper and booted in the winning goal with 13 minutes left as Biddeford nipped Bonny Eagle at Standish.

The Tigers took the lead in the first half on a goal by Cassie Ellis. Maddie Freeman scored the equalizer with a second-half penalty kick.

DEERING 6, CHEVERUS 1: Simone Lauture scored three goals to lead Deering over visiting Cheverus.

Alexis Elowitch added two goals and Abby Elowitch had one.

Sadie Lyons kept Cheverus in the game with a first-half goal. The Stags trailed 3-1 at halftime, but Lauture finished her hat trick five minutes into the second half to give the Rams a three-goal cushion.

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, WESTBROOK 0: Amanda Arnold set up a goal and scored the 50th of her career to help the Trojans down the Blue Blazes at Westbrook.

Tori Daigle scored the first goal off a cross from Arnold with 6:31 left in the first half. Just 45 seconds later, Katherine Gillespie sent a cross to Haley DaGraca, who headed it into the goal.

Early in the second half, Arnold took a pass from Gillespie, beat a defender and put the ball into the upper right corner.

Lexi Nason needed just one save for the shutout. Westbrook keeper Samantha Russell had 24 saves.

YORK 4, LAKE REGION 0: Sierra Swasey scored twice as the Wildcats handled the visiting Lakers.

Swasey scored the first goal from Shannon Todd, then put York ahead 3-0 on a penalty kick.

Joanna Bennett scored from Courtney Cole, and Maddie Amidon converted an assist from Charlotte Reilly.

The three assisted goals were similar — back passes and hard shots from about 25 yards over the goalie and under the crossbar.

Isabel Scribner stopped 15 shots for the Lakers.

MASSABESIC 6, NOBLE 1: Kym Hendrix scored three goals to lead the Mustangs over the Knights at North Berwick.

Kailey Daigle had a goal and an assist, and Haley Bantz and Rayne Whitten also scored for the Mustangs.

Gabbie Hanson converted a corner kick for Noble’s goal.

MT. ARARAT 4, MESSALONSKEE 2: Dani Krause, Natalie Burch, Nicole Ross and Libby Ouellette scored to lead Mt. Ararat to a win at Topsham.

McKenna Brodeur scored twice for Messalonskee.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 3, BELFAST 0: Leslie Sandefur scored in the first half, and Hayden Campbell and Lilly Davis added second-half goals for the Eagles in a win at Belfast.

Lincoln keeper Miranda Achorn made six saves.

CONY 3, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Olivia Deeves and Emily Quirion scored in the second half as the Rams won at Auburn. Bayleigh Logan scored in the first half as Cony jumped out to a 1-0 lead. Cory Norcross tied it early in the second half.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 3, OAK HILL 0: Kylie Kemp scored a pair of goals to lead the Mustangs at Wales.

Freshman Haley Fletcher added a goal and an assist.

WATERVILLE 5, NOKOMIS 0: Pilar Elias scored all five goals as the Panthers beat the Warriors at Waterville.

MADISON 7, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Kayla Bess scored four goals to pace the Bulldogs to a win at Madison.

MCI 3, MT. VIEW 0: Ashley Alton scored two unassisted goals and Brianna Losee added another to lead the Huskies to a win in Pittsfield.
