ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said Wednesday he is appealing the NFL’s $100,000 fine against him for his hit on a Minnesota Vikings player over the weekend.

Suh said he knows the NFL is concerned about player safety and that’s one of the reasons he apologized to Minnesota center John Sullivan at halftime of Sunday’s game after hitting him low during an interception return.

He insisted he’s not concerned about his reputation, saying you’re never going to change people, including himself.

Suh also said he plans to play “hard, blue-collar football” Sunday at Arizona.

SEAHAWKS: Coach Pete Carroll hopes the team will get Brandon Browner back in time for Sunday night’s NFC West showdown with San Francisco after the starting cornerback missed last week’s opener against Carolina with a hamstring injury.

Carroll said Browner continues to recover and was expected to run Wednesday. If there are no setbacks, Browner is expected to go through practice Thursday.

COWBOYS: Defensive end Anthony Spencer practiced for the first time this season and said he should play in Week 2 against Kansas City.

CHIEFS: Running back Jamaal Charles expects to be available for Sunday’s game against Dallas after bruising his quad in last weekend’s victory at Jacksonville.

REDSKINS: Commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL should listen to those offended by the team’s nickname.

RAMS: Coach Jeff Fisher squelched talk he might be the next coach at USC, where he played in college.

VIKINGS: Defensive tackle Kevin Williams returned to practice after missing a game with an ailing right knee.

COLTS: Jim Irsay, the team owner, Tweeted that he “demands” a better effort this week after Sunday’s effort against Oakland. Andrew Luck was sacked four times although the Colts won.

PANTHERS: The team re-signed defensive tackle Sione Fua and placed guard Garry Williams on injured reserve with a torn left knee.

BROWNS: Rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo was cleared to play and is expected to make his NFL debut this week after being sidelined with a bruised lung.

BRONCOS: Coach John Fox has had it with linebacker Von Miller’s transgressions. Miller, who’s serving a six-game suspension for violating the league’s drug-abuse policy, was cited last week for speeding and driving with a suspended license, his second run-in with the law in less than a month.

“Everybody here has an individual responsibility not only to themselves but to this organization, as well as to this football team. So obviously it’s something that we’re not pleased about. I’ll leave it at that,” Fox said.

JAGUARS: Quarterback Chad Henne will make his 38th career start when Jacksonville plays Sunday at Oakland. Henne is filling in for Blaine Gabbert, who is sidelined at least this week with a laceration on his throwing hand. It will be Henne’s seventh start in Jacksonville’s last eight regular-season games.
