WINDHAM – Hattie Train and Laura Bither scored first-half goals as Cheverus earned a 2-1 win over Windham in an SMAA field hockey game Monday.

Hannah Skvorak put Windham (2-2) on the board in the second half.

Libby DesRuisseaux made six saves for Cheverus (3-1). Windham’s Tyra Boucher stopped 15 shots.

GORHAM 2, BONNY EAGLE 2: Cassidy Merrill scored twice and Ashlyn Wintle made 16 saves for Bonny Eagle (3-0-2) in a tie against the Rams (1-2-1) in Gorham.

Merrill’s goals — both off penalty corners — erased a pair of one-goal deficits.

Gorham’s April Cummings opened the scoring with a penalty stroke. Darcie Brown gave the Rams a 2-1 lead in the closing seconds of the first half.

MASSABESIC 3, WESTBROOK 1: Logan Provencher had a goal and an assist as the Mustangs (3-1) upended the Blue Blazes (2-2) at Waterboro.

Emma Desrochers and Mira Kuni each added a goal for Massabesic. Abby St. Clair scored for Westbrook.

SOUTH PORTLAND 5, PORTLAND 3: Kristina Salafia scored twice while leading the Red Riots (1-3) past the Bulldogs (1-3) in Portland.

Salafia sandwiched her goals around one by Courtney Trufant for a lead 14 minutes into the game. Tori Clayton countered for Portland with five minutes left in the half, but Olivia Indorf and Courtney Pelkey opened the second half with South Portland goals for a 5-1 lead.

Lauren McIntyre and Gabrielle Wagabaza notched the final two goals for Portland.

MARSHWOOD 3, BIDDEFORD 0: Lindsey Poirier, Claudia Folger and Karissa Boesch scored as the Hawks (4-1) beat the Tigers (2-1-1) at South Berwick.

THORNTON ACADEMY 9, NOBLE 0: Libby Pomerleau netted two goals as the Trojans (3-2) beat the Knights (0-4) at North Berwick.

Katie Kirby and Kaitlin Hilton each had a goal and an assist.

DEERING 15, MCAULEY 0: Kerry Wells and Mia Thurston scored three goals each as the Rams (1-3-1) blanked the visiting Lions (0-4) at Portland.

Amanda Lemoult added two goals and an assist, and Rylie Turner also contributed two goals.

WAYNFLETE 1, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Abigail Ouellette scored at 18:39 of the first half for Sacopee Valley (0-2-1) and Charlotte Majercik answered at 27:39 for Waynflete (0-1-1) as the teams battled to a draw at South Hiram.

Kiera MacWhinnie finished with 15 saves for Waynflete. Chloe Ronco made 13 saves for Sacopee Valley

VOLLEYBALL

FALMOUTH 3, BIDDEFORD 1: Riley Burfeind had 16 service points, two aces and 12 kills, and Ally Hickey chipped in with 10 service points, four kills and nine blocks to help Falmouth (3-0) beat the Tigers (1-2) in Biddeford.

Falmouth, the 25-23 winner of a seesaw first game, lost 25-14 in the second game before closing out the match with 25-16 and 25-15 wins.

Katrina Meserve added 14 kills and four blocks, while Meghan Tammaro had 60 sets, 27 assists, six service points and two aces.

Bri Collard led Biddeford with 10 aces. Jocelyn Moody had 12 kills and five digs, and Bailey Cote had five kills and didn’t miss a serve before leaving with an injury after the second game.

CAPE ELIZABETH 3, YARMOUTH 1: Tess Haller had nine kills and Sophie Moore contributed 27 assists as the Capers (3-0) defeated the Clippers (2-1) at Yarmouth, 25-15, 17-25, 26-24, 25-14.

Hannah Elrick had six kills and Grace Mallett had four aces for Yarmouth.

SCARBOROUGH 3, GORHAM 0: Natalie Foster had eight kills and Abby Mills added seven as the Blue Blazes defeated the Rams at Scarborough, 25-12, 25-22 and 25-16.

Hallye Anderson had four kills for Gorham, while Sam Robinson contributed 16 digs and six rotation points.
