BRUNSWICK – Catilin LaFountain wasn’t going to let her Mt. Ararat field hockey team lose again.

LaFountain exploded for four goals and an assist Thursday to help the Eagles thump rival Brunswick 6-0. The win was Mt. Ararat’s first of the year as it improved to 1-5 and the Dragons dropped to 1-6.

Carly Raymond added two goals and three assists for Mt. Ararat, which led 4-0 at halftime.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, FREEPORT 0: Taylor Herrera and Kelsey Allan each scored first-half goals and the Capers (5-1) held off the Falcons (2-4) at Cape Elizabeth.

Herrera scored during a scrum in front of the net 10 minutes into the game and Allan scored off a rebound Sam Altznauer’s shot.

Cape Elizabeth keeper Mary DiPietro recorded the shutout with two saves and Morgan Karnes stopped eight shots for Freeport.

WELLS 2, WAYNFLETE 1: Gabi Betters scored on an assist from Kassie Bachelder in overtime as the Warriors (1-3) edged the Flyers (0-3-1) at Wells.

Liz Bouchard also scored a goal for Wells. The Waynflete goal was scored by Charlotte Majercik.

Waynflete goalie Kiera MacWinnie made nine saves and Randi Albano stopped four shots for the Warriors.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: Kayla Rose opened the scoring on a penalty stroke with 25:31 left in the second half and Olivia Madore added a goal 15 minutes later to lift the Panthers (6-0) over the Hawks (0-3-1) at Yarmouth.

Elizabeth Coughlin made one save to record the shutout for NYA and Sacopee keeper Chloe Ronco finished with 16 saves.

GREELY 4, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Sophie McMonagle led the Rangers (2-3) with three goals as they pulled away from the Patriots (0-5) at Gray.

Lucy Wetzel also scored a goal for Greely, which broke open a 1-1 tie with three second-half goals.

Cara Waltz scored for Gray-New Gloucester.

SKOWHEGAN 10, CONY 0: Skowhegan downed Cony to run its record to 7-0-0. The win was also the 64th straight, setting a new state record for consecutive victories.

Skowhegan’s last loss was a 2-1 overtime decision to Scarborough in the 2009 state final. Skowhegan beat Scarborough 3-0 in last year’s state final, setting a state record for goals in a season with 147. Just four starters returned from that team, but Skowhegan has scored 64 goals this season while allowing one.

BOYS’ SOCCER

GORHAM 3, WESTBROOK 0: Gorham improved to 4-1 after posting a shutout over the Blue Blazes (3-2) at Westbrook.

Nate Roberts scored in the first half for the Rams. Cole Houghton and Cody Elliott added second-half scores.

Keeper Matt Bennett completed the shutout with one save. Austin Blake stopped nine in the Westbrook goal.

SCARBOROUGH 4, SANFORD 0: Wyatt Omsberg scored two goals to lead the Red Storm (3-1) over Sanford (1-4) at Scarborough.

Sam Ware and Jerry Kenney both scored for the Red Storm and Matt Caron finished with two assists.

Scarborough keeper Pat Stanton had two saves while Spartan goalie Tylar Burgess nabbed 20 saves.

MASSABESIC 3, MARSHWOOD 2: Dawson Renaud scored two goals to help Massabesic (1-4) secure its first win of the season with a win over Marshwood (0-5) at Waterboro. Dylan Blackington provided the third goal for the Mustangs.

Devon Gilbert and Gus Leisentritt both scored for the Hawks.

WINDHAM 0, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Thornton Academy (0-3-1) held the Windham Eagles (1-2-1) to a scoreless tie at Saco.

Thornton goaltender Logan Gailitis made four saves in the match.

Windham keeper Tyler Connor had seven saves.
