BIDDEFORD – Jayne Kelly scored with 55 seconds left in regulation, giving the University of New England women’s soccer team a 1-1 tie with Western New England College on Saturday.

The Nor’easters moved to 4-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

UMASS-BOSTON 2, USM 0: Krista Ledin and Tayla Andrews each had a goal and an assist, sending the Beacons (3-3) over the Huskies (3-5) in a Little East Conference opener at Gorham.

Katie Cobb made 11 saves for Southern Maine.

BATES 1, WESLEYAN 1: Lily Peterson scored off Dakota Donovan’s assist midway through the second half, lifting Bates (2-3-1, 1-2-1 NESCAC) into a tie with the Cardinals (0-2-2, 0-1-1) at Middletown, Conn.

TRINITY 1, COLBY 0: Elisa Dolan scored in the 28th minute, Monica Difiori made seven saves and the Bantams (4-0, 3-0 NESCAC) edged the Mules (1-3, 0-3) at Waterville.

MIDDLEBURY 2, BOWDOIN 1: Julia Favorito’s late goal broke a 1-1 tie as Middlebury (3-1-1, 2-1-1 NESCAC) beat Bowdoin (3-1-1, 2-1-1) in Brunswick.

ST. JOSEPH’S 2, NORWICH 0: Lauren Chouinard scored in the first half, Danielle Daigle added one in the second and the Monks (7-1, 3-0 GNAC) dominated the Cadets (0-8, 0-3) at Standish.

SMCC 4, UNITY 1: Zyrah Giustra scored two goals and Michela Desjardins had one goal and two assists to lead Southern Maine Community College to a 4-1 win at Unity.

Cassondra Dumond also scored for the Seawolves.


ST. JOSEPH’S 3, SIMMONS 1: Theresa Hendrix scored two goals, Amanda Celata added one and Effie Drew had three assists as the Monks (4-0) beat the Sharks (5-3) at Boston.

COLBY 5, TRINITY 0: Meghan Fortier had two goals and an assist, Sarah Evans made six saves and the Mules (4-1, 2-1 NESCAC) blanked the 17th-ranked Bantams (3-2, 2-1) at Waterville.

Misha Strage added a goal and an assist and Meghan Murray had three assists.

WESLEYAN 2, BATES 0: The Cardinals (2-3, 1-2 NESCAC) shut out Bates (1-4, 0-3) at Middletown, Conn.

UNE 3, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 2: Erin Bibber’s goal 43 seconds into overtime gave the University of New England (3-3, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference) a win over the Golden Bears (1-5, 0-2) in Biddeford.

Hannah Warren and Beth Sullivan also scored for UNE.

EASTERN CONNECTICUT 3, USM 1: Hannah Keiser scored two goals and the Warriors (4-3, 1-1 Little East) overcame an early deficit to beat the Huskies (3-5, 0-2) at Mansfield, Conn.

Leanne Reichert scored in the 15th minute for USM.

BOWDOIN 4, MIDDLEBURY 2: Kimmie Ganong and Rachel Kennedy scored second-half goals as the Polar Bears (4-1, 2-1 NESCAC) pulled away from a 2-2 tie against Middlebury (3-1, 2-1) in Brunswick.


UMASS-BOSTON 3, USM 2: The Beacons (7-2, 1-0 Little East) edged Southern Maine (0-7-1, 0-1) at Boston.

Tyler Rand and Jonathan Varney each scored a goal for the Huskies.

WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 2, UNE 1: Jake Barnik’s penalty kick gave the Golden Bears (5-2, 1-1 Commonwealth Coast) a win over the Nor’easters (3-3-1, 0-2) at Biddeford.

Sean Goodrich scored in the 15th minute for UNE.

WESLEYAN 1, BATES 0: Brandon Sousa scored from Matt Hertgen in the 84th minute, giving the Cardinals (4-1, 3-0 NESCAC) a win over the Bobcats (1-2-1, 0-2-1) at Middletown, Conn.

BOWDOIN 1, MIDDLEBURY 1: Andrew Jones placed a perfect shot to the bottom right corner 12 minutes into the second half, giving the Polar Bears (1-2-1, 0-2-1 NESCAC) a tie against Middlebury (1-1-1, 1-1-1) in Brunswick.

TRINITY 2, COLBY 1: Mark Perreault converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to snap a 1-1 tie and help the Bantams (5-0, 3-0 NESCAC) edge the Mules (1-3, 0-3) at Waterville.

ST. JOSEPH’S 1, NORWICH 0: Kyle Shangraw scored on a header with 26 seconds remaining to lift the Monks (5-2-1, 2-0 GNAC) over the Cadets (5-2-1, 1-1) at Standish.

SMCC 1, UNITY 0: Jack Carter scored off an assist from Bojan Sikima to give Southern Maine Community College (3-3, 2-1 YSCC) a 1-0 victory at Unity.


SMCC 13, MASS BAY CC 1: Ethan Bilderback and Andrew Rascoe each scored twice as the Seawolves (6-2) produced 13 runs in the first two innings at South Portland.

Dan French got the win, giving up one hit while striking out seven.
