WORCESTER, Mass. — A Northbridge man and wife have been sentenced after being convicted of raping their two adopted children.
Joseph Mayotte was sentenced Monday to 16 to 20 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing his daughter for five years, starting when she was 8.
His wife, Linda Mayotte, was sentenced to 18 to 22 years after her conviction for sexually abusing her son, starting when he was 13 and ending when she became pregnant with his child.
The Telegram & Gazette reported that the male victim, in his impact statement at Worcester Superior Court, said the Mayottes should “burn in hell.”
Prosecutors had recommended a minimum of 25 years for Joseph Mayotte and 30 for Linda Mayotte, saying there were “no mitigating factors” in the case.
The Mayottes were arrested in 2009.
