NAPLES — A man facing a vehicular manslaughter charge in Maine in connection with a fatal all-terrain vehicle accident has been located in Nantucket, Mass.
Authorities say 28-year-old Jonathan Caswell was arrested Sept. 18 on Nantucket and charged with resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, and being a fugitive from justice.
Massachusetts court officials tell the Sun Journal those charges were dismissed in court on Monday after Caswell waived extradition.
He will be returned to Maine to face charges in connection with an August 2012 ATV accident in Naples that took the life of 24-year-old Shanan Loud.
Police say Caswell was operating the ATV when it went airborne, flipped and landed in a river. Loud was pronounced dead at the scene. They were not wearing helmets.
Caswell was also injured.
