SOUTH PORTLAND – Ahmed Suja scored two first-half goals and South Portland held on Thursday night to upset Portland 2-1 in an SMAA schoolboy soccer game.

Yusef Yama converted a free kick midway through the second half for Portland (7-2-1).

Henry Curran made 15 saves for South Portland (5-4).

Bobby Brittingham had eight saves for Portland. 

DEERING 2, MARSHWOOD 1: Ben Peterson scored twice as the Rams (8-1-1) earned a double-overtime victory against the Hawks (0-9-1) at South Berwick.

Peterson’s first goal came in the second half when he curled in a free kick. He added the winner off a corner kick that bounced around the penalty box before he drilled it in.

Devon Gilbert scored for Marshwood. 

POLAND 11, LAKE REGION 0: Jared Martel and Kyle Radziszewski scored twice each as the Knights (2-7-1) downed the Lakers (0-10) at Poland. 

CHEVERUS 3, MASSABESIC 0: James Biegel, Grady Levesque and Nick Turner scored as the Stags (6-2-1) beat the Mustangs (2-7) at Portland.

Ben Peterson and Jake Tomkinson combined for three saves in the shutout. 

NOBLE 3, WESTBROOK 2: Bailey McKenna had a goal and an assist as the Knights (7-1-1) edged the Blue Blazes (4-4-2) at North Berwick.

McKenna started the scoring for Noble. After Luther Williams tied it, Josh Emard scored 31 seconds later to give the Knights a 2-1 halftime lead.

Brandon Ford made it 3-1 before Owen Gillis added a score for Westbrook. 

THORNTON ACADEMY 5, SANFORD 2: Liam Eisenhauer scored two goals to help Thornton Academy (2-6-2) defeat the Spartans (1-7-1) at Sanford.

After playing to a 2-2 tie in the first half, Thornton scored three goals in the second. Paul Arabatzis was breaking toward the goal when he redirected a free kick for the tiebreaking goal. 

PINE TREE ACADEMY 5, A.R. GOULD 2: Andrew Goorhuis scored twice to lead the Breakers (7-0) past the Bears (2-5) at South Portland. 

WINDHAM 2, BIDDEFORD 0: Josh Dugas scored in the first half and Mhondoro Richards in the second to propel the Eagles (2-5-2) past the Tigers (0-8-1) at Windham.

Tristan Huot made 18 saves for Biddeford.
