PORTLAND — Cody O’Brien and Joe Fitzpatrick each scored a pair of first-half touchdowns Saturday and undefeated Cheverus went on to a 48-0 victory against Edward Little in an Eastern Class A football game at Boulos Stadium.

O’Brien opened the scoring on an 18-yard run with 5:13 left in the first quarter. Joe Fitzpatrick added a 19-yard touchdown run with 31 seconds left.

Will Hilton closed the first-quarter scoring for the Stags (5-0) with a 20-yard interception return on the ensuing possession for the Red Eddies (1-4).

Liam LaFountain added a 61-yard touchdown run for the Stags and Lowell Harmon scored on a 6-yard run.

OCEANSIDE 38, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 34: Garrett Burns and Preston Spear each scored a pair of touchdowns for the Mariners (1-4), who recovered a fumble with less than two minutes left to hold off the Raiders (1-4) at Fryeburg.

Trailing 38-34, Fryeburg forced Oceanside to punt with 2:30 left. The Raiders advanced the ball inside the Oceanside 30 before fumbling.

Ryan Gullikson and Ben Southwick each scored two touchdowns, and Ryan Buzzell added the final touchdown of the day for Fryeburg on a 4-yard run to pull the Raiders within four points.

Most of the scoring took place in the second quarter when each team scored 22 points, including back-to-back kickoff returns for touchdowns by Southwick and Spear.

DIRIGO 40, SACOPEE VALLEY 8: Bret Beauchesne rushed for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns on seven carries for the Cougars (3-2), who scored 34 unanswered points in the first half and cruised past the Hawks (0-5) at South Hiram.

Tyler Frost added 53 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, and Joe Casey finished with 54 yards rushing on nine carries for Dirigo.

Eric Schroeder scored on an 8-yard run for Sacopee in the fourth quarter. Zach Barrows added a conversion.

CAPE ELIZABETH 42, FREEPORT 22: Noah Wolfinger threw three touchdown passes to lead the Capers (3-2) past the Falcons (2-3) at Freeport.

Nick Moulton added a pair of touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing, for the Capers, who led 28-0 at halftime and scored on their first two possessions of the second half.

PORTLAND 68, OXFORD HILLS 0: Justin Zukowski scored four touchdowns as Portland (4-1) handled the Vikings (1-4) at South Paris.

The Bulldogs scored 49 points in a first half capped by Domenic Fagone’s interception return for a touchdown on the last play from scrimmage.

Ronald Hargrove rushed for two touchdowns, and Jordan Talbot added a passing touchdown and a rushing TD.
