ORONO – In overtime, Daniele Aviani lifted a rebound over sprawled goalie Megan Hancock to give Maine a 3-2 field hockey win after the Black Bears had tied it at 2-2 with no time left in regulation Sunday.

In the game-winning sequence, Annabelle Hamilton fired from the far right side of the circle. Hancock made an initial save, but Aviani was in position to knock the winner home.

Earlier, Cassidy Svetek notched the game-tying goal when the Black Bears (6-5) were given one final penalty corner as the clock ran out.

Nicole Sevey inserted the penalty corner pass to Becca Paradee, who sent a pass to Aviani, who lofted a shot to the right of the goal mouth — which Svetek swatted home to even the score.

Sydney Veljacic also scored for Maine while Natasha Ford made four saves in goal.
