LEWISTON-AUBURN — Police are looking for a man who stole two engagement rings from an Auburn jewelry store and then pawned them in Lewiston.
The owner of Goldworks jewelry store, 33 Center St., said the man asked to see engagement rings Thursday, according to the Sun-Journal. A saleswoman showed him two rings. He asked what size they were, then ran out of the store with the rings, worth about $7,000.
Police said the man likely got into a car that sped to Lewiston. The rings were pawned there for $1,000.
Police were able to see the man on surveillance video and took fingerprints at the jewelry store.
