WOBURN, Mass. — A trial date of next October has been set for a Red Sox broadcaster’s son charged with killing his girlfriend.
Jared Remy’s trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 7, 2014, in Middlesex Superior Court. Remy is charged with murder in the Aug. 15 stabbing death of Jennifer Martel.

Prosecutors say Remy stabbed Martel to death at their Waltham apartment.
Remy, the son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
The trial date was set by a magistrate on Monday.
