AUGUSTA — Maine’s congressional delegation is questioning a recent decision to end a Maine-based company’s concession contract with Acadia National Park.

Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King wrote a letter to the National Park Service on Thursday asking for answers about the decision to end the concessions contract with The Acadia Corp. and select a new, out-of-state company for the park’s concessions.

Reps. Mike Michaud and Chellie Pingree wrote a similar letter to the House Committee on Natural Resources expressing concerns over the potential impact on the economy.

Michaud and Pingree’s offices say that a subsidiary of New Mexico-based Ortega National Parks, LLC, has been awarded a 10-year contract.

Congress must review the contract change before it becomes official.
