Maine’s Catholic diocese is reaching out for contributions to help victims of this month’s deadly typhoon in the Philippines.

Typhoon Haiyan killed thousands of people and displaced hundreds of thousands when it tore across islands in the eastern Philippines.

Catholic churches in Maine will be holding special collections on the weekend of Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 to help typhoon victims. The funds will be used by the Catholic Church for water, food, shelter and medical care, as well as long-term recovery assistance.

Catholic Relief Services is also collecting donations online, by phone or by mail. More information is available at The CRS website.
