Seminary, Nebraska church collaborate on pilot project

A new lay ministry development project has been established between Bangor Theological Seminary and Countryside Community Church, a United Church of Christ congregation based in Omaha, Neb., which produces the interactive Web-TV program and virtual spiritual gathering place, “Darkwood Brew.”

The Rev. Dr. Robert Grove-Markwood, executive director of the BTS Center, recently made the announcement of the collaboration. An initial two-year pilot project is expected to start in the fall of 2014 in select communities in northern New England, Omaha and on the West Coast.

The BTS Center, located in Portland, is continuing the mission of Bangor Theological Seminary, which was established in 1814, and offers alternatives to traditional degree-based theological education. For more information, go to www.thebtscenter.org or call 774-5212.
