James Seavey is the featured artist in an exhibit, “Water, Metal, Image,” which runs through Feb. 28 at Daunis Fine Handmade Jewelry, 616 Congress St. in Portland.

Seavey will showcase his work in three media: free-spun aluminum vessels, watercolors and photographs. The pieces all relate, yet they can stand alone.

A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Seavey was an active silversmith from 1970 to 1984. He picked up the craft again in 2012. His creations in silver, pewter and aluminum have gained national attention.

Seavey uses the camera and spinning metal as a way of exploring form and color. His watercolor paintings support the photographic images and the surfaces of the vessels; a triptych of media.
