I read with interest the letter in the Dec. 31 paper (“Righteous anti-gay bigotry damaging beyond belief”) by Derek Viger, and I am compelled to reply.

First, Mr. Viger needs to read his Bible. Specifically, Leviticus 18:22-23, which says, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”

Secondly, he should read Romans 1:24-27. God hates the sins of homosexuality and lesbianism. He does not hate the sinner, He hates the sin as God hates all sin no matter what it is.

God created men and women in His own image.

God cannot and does not create sin, so to say people are born with a predisposition for homosexuality or lesbianism is totally wrong.

That’s like saying someone is born a racist or a bigot or a thief or a murderer.

All of these types of behavior are learned. They are taught by someone to someone else. So are homosexuality and lesbianism.

These are lifestyles people make a conscious choice to live; it is not in their DNA. Science has looked to find out if people are born with a gene that makes them a homosexual or a lesbian, and they have come up with nothing.

I will repeat myself: These lifestyles are lived by people who make a conscious choice to live that type of lifestyle for whatever reason they want to.
