Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man believed to be responsible for the robberies of two CVS drugstores in Portland over the past week.

The latest robbery occurred Friday night at the CVS in the Forest Avenue Plaza at 449 Forest Ave., police said. The earlier robbery took place Jan. 12 at the CVS in the Westgate Shopping Center on Congress Street.

On Saturday afternoon, police released still photos taken from video surveillance footage recorded during both robberies.

On Friday night, police believe the man waited outside the store for customers to leave before he entered and passed a threatening note to a cashier demanding money. In both cases, the robber fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber of the CVS on Forest Avenue was described as a black man in his 30s or 40s, about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black and white flannel shirt over a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan boots.

No one was injured in either robbery, and no weapon was displayed. Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call the Portland police at 874-8587.
