“Love and Marriage: A Celebration of Equal Rights” 6:30 p.m., a Martin Luther King Jr. Day presentation with a focus on equal rights, interracial and same-sex marriage. The documentary film, “The Loving Story,” about the interracial marriage of Mildred and Richard Loving, will also be shown. Held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Saco-Biddeford, 60 School St., Saco. Admission is free and donations for the Saco Food Pantry will be accepted.

The Diocese of Portland has collected more than $138,000 to be donated to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which devastated the Philippines in early November. Collections were taken at Catholic churches and schools in early December and turned over to Catholic Relief Services, the church’s official international humanitarian agency. Andrea Levinsky of Portland, a student at Connecticut College, is one of 16 students chosen to participate in the Lipper Internship Program at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan. She will learn how to teach 20th-century Jewish history to young people. The program is funded by the EGL Charitable Foundation and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
