Matt Talbot had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Jayvon Pitts-Young added 16 points Friday night to lead Portland to a 64-53 victory against Cheverus in an SMAA schoolboy basketball game at Keegan Gym.
Portland (16-0) led 28-22 at halftime, then held Cheverus (8-8) to five third-quarter points to extend the lead to 50-27.
Austin Boudreau and Manny Ismail led the Stags with 10 points each.
FALMOUTH 67, FREEPORT 34: Jack Simonds had 20 points, 17 rebounds and five assists to lead the Yachtsmen (15-1) past the Falcons (1-15) at Falmouth.
Nick Burton added 13 points for Falmouth, which led 18-4 after one quarter.
RANGELEY 35, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 27: The Lakers (3-13) held the Lions (2-14) scoreless in the fourth quarter to recover from a 27-22 deficit at Rangeley.
Tim White scored six of his game-high 15 points in the last quarter. Jeremiah Hammond led Greater Portland Christian with 11.
BONNY EAGLE 68, WESTBROOK 57: Dustin Cole had 25 points, 10 rebounds and five steals to lead the Scots (15-1) over the Blue Blazes (3-13) at Standish.
Benjamin Malloy added 21 points on seven 3-pointers for Bonny Eagle. Aquoi Alexander had 18 points and Demetrious Hoskins 14 for Westbrook.
GORHAM 45, WINDHAM 41: Nick Thibault had 13 of his game-high 17 points in the first half before the Rams (8-8) held off the Eagles (6-10) at Gorham.
Sam Kilborn tossed in 15 points and Cody Elliott added 11 for Gorham, which led 34-22 through three quarters before holding on. Ryan Gorman led Windham with 13 points.
POLAND 83, WELLS 70: Caleb Martin made six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points to lead the Knights (8-8) over the Warriors (5-11) at Poland.
Tyler Michaud chipped in 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and Alan Young added 18 points and 12 rebounds for Poland, which led 58-49 through three quarters.
Jake Moody scored 37 points for Wells, including five 3-pointers.
Alex McCormack-Kuhman added 11 points for the Warriors.
NOBLE 67, BIDDEFORD 39: Brady Dodge scored 22 points for the Knights (9-7), who used a 19-4 run at the start of the second half to put away the Tigers (0-16) at North Berwick.
Grayson Waterman added 14 points and eight assists for Noble, which extended a 39-26 halftime lead to 58-30 through three quarters.
Corey Creeger scored 14 points and T.J. McCann added 11 for Biddeford.
BOOTHBAY REGION 67, WISCASSET 61: John Hepburn scored 22 points and Evan Hepburn added 17 to lift the Seahawks (15-2) over the Wolverines (9-8) at Wiscasset.
The Seahawks outscored Wiscasset 19-8 in the second quarter to build a 37-26 halftime lead. The Wolverines got as close as two points in the second half.
Travis Padilla of Wiscasset scored a game-high 28 points, including four 3-pointers.
HYDE 63, ACADIA CHRISTIAN 13: Evander Lenardson scored 13 points and Talin Rowe added 12 to lead a balanced offense for the Phoenix (13-1) against the Seahawks (0-12) at Bath.
Wilson MacMillan chipped in nine points and six assists for Hyde.
CAPE ELIZABETH 50, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 45: Ethan Murphy went 10 of 10 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as the Capers (11-5) rallied past the Raiders (7-9) at Fryeburg.
Jack O’Rourke led Cape Elizabeth with 14 points. Alex Blake led Fryeburg with 13 points.
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 63, TRAIP ACADEMY 54: Chase Gendron scored 21 points and El Tayeb Dahia had 16 for the Panthers (11-4), who sank 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Rangers (4-12) at Yarmouth.
Haven Cutko scored all of his seven points in the fourth quarter, and Gendron and Dahia each had six for NYA.
Peter Roy had 14 points and Joey Cavanagh 13 for Traip.
KENNEBUNK 59, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 51: Ben Wilson had four points, three blocks and a steal in overtime as the Rams (6-10) went on an 8-0 run to beat the Patriots (3-13) at Kennebunk.
Austin Sandler scored 20 points for Kennebunk, which finished regulation on a 22-6 run, with Caleb Burpee sinking the tying basket with three seconds left off a drive by Sandler.
Andreas Kariotis scored 13 points for Gray-New Gloucester.
OCEANSIDE 70, MEDOMAK VALLEY 61: David Gould scored 22 points and Nick Judge added 21 to lead the Mariners (14-2) past the Panthers (8-8) at Rockland.
THORNTON ACADEMY 72, MASSABESIC 53: Quinn Richardson-Newton scored a game- high 26 points to lead the Golden Trojans (10-6) over the Mustangs (4-12) at Saco.
Kevin Barrett had eight of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as Thornton pulled away after leading 53-45 through three.
FALMOUTH 3, BANGOR 1: Isaac Nordstrom had a goal and an assist for the Yachtsmen (8-4), who scored three unanswered goals to rally past the Rams (7-3) at Falmouth.
Bangor took the lead 4:54 into the game on a goal by Owen Trundy. Reece Armitage tied it with 2:30 left in the first period.
