Competition entries for young composers due by Feb. 10

Entries to the Annual Young Composers’ Competition are due on Feb. 10 for all Maine student composers in grades 12 and under who wish to submit original compositions.

Since 1996, the Bagaduce Music Lending Library has been holding this competition to encourage the youth of Maine to express their creativeness and imagination through music. All musical styles from classical to rock and anything in between are welcome.

Entries are grouped by age, for 13 and younger and age 14 through high school. Cash prizes of $200, $125 and $75 will be awarded to the top three winners in each age group.

All participants will receive a certificate of award and a written critique of their composition from a panel of judges.
