BINGHAM — A robber wielding a hammer has robbed a Bingham bank for the second time in less than three weeks.

Skowhegan Savings Bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon by a man described in a police radio transmission as about 5 feet 6 inches tall and wearing a black ski mask.

He was wielding a hammer, according to the transmission.

Camden National Bank in Bingham was robbed by a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a hammer on Jan. 17. Both banks are on U.S. Route 201, Main Street, in Bingham.

Tuesday’s robbery was reported at 1:21 p.m., according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. The department, along with Maine State Police, were on the scene.

Police have said there were no suspects in the first robbery, but a composite image of a robber based on surveillance images and witness reports was released last week.
