Cam Brochu scored two goals and added two assists as Scarborough held off Cheverus for a 5-4 win in a Class A boys’ hockey game Thursday at Portland Ice Arena.

Brochu, Matt Caron, Sean McGovern and Cam Loiselle each scored in the second period as the Red Storm (12-2) turned a 1-1 deadlock into a 5-1 lead.

The Stags (7-5-1) rallied in the third but couldn’t complete the comeback. James King scored twice and Keegan Thomas provided one goal.

YARMOUTH 10, WESTBROOK 1: Isaak Deardon scored four goals for the Clippers (8-4-1) in a win over the Blue Blazes (3-12) at USM Ice Arena.

Deardon started Yarmouth’s five-goal first period just 13 seconds into the contest. Freshman Caleb Morrison and junior Tyler Hall both scored their first career goal later in the first.

PORTLAND/DEERING 8, MARSHWOOD/TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Stephan Barry and Mike Fuller each tallied a pair of goals as Portland/Deering (4-9-1) scored four times in the second period to pull away from Marshwood/Traip (5-8) at Portland Ice Arena.

Luigi Grimaldi, Chris Eye, Ryan Ruhlin and Kiernan Cummings added a goal apiece, and Curran Clere collected a pair of assists. Alex Girsch made six saves to record the shutout.

Tyler Gagnon made 31 saves for Marshwood/Traip.

MESSALONSKEE 7, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Kalib Bernatchez and Chase Cunningham each scored two goals to lead the Eagles (13-0) past the Windjammers (10-2-1) at Sukee Arena.

Dan Condon and Jared Cunningham also scored for Messalonskee, and Dylan Burton also had four assists. The Eagles led just 2-1 after the first period but put the game away with four goals in the second.

BASKETBALL

SANFORD 71, MASSABESIC 41: John Morgan scored 14 points in the first quarter to get the Spartans (12-6) started in a win over Massabesic (4-13) at Sanford.

Morgan finished with 25 points. Josh Schroder added 10 points, and Evyn Nolette had eight points, nine assists and four steals.

Daniel Amabile scored 13 points for Massabesic.

THORNTON ACADEMY 72, BIDDEFORD 55: Quinn Richardson-Newton scored 24 points and Kevin Barrett added 16 to lead the Trojans (12-6) past the Tigers (0-18) at Biddeford.

T.J. McCann scored 17 points and Corey Creeger finished with 15 for Biddeford.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 53, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 48: Tyler Scott scored 16 points for the Seagulls (12-5) in a win over the Panthers (12-5) at Yarmouth.

NYA took a 13-8 lead in the first quarter, but Zach Hirst made three 3-pointers in the second quarter as Old Orchard Beach rallied for a 27-23 advantage.

Hirst and Zach Seamans each finished with 12 points for OOB.

Chase Gendron led the Panthers with 17 points, while El Tayeb Dahia scored 10.

WELLS 61, TRAIP ACADEMY 51: Jake Moody scored 11 of his 28 points in the first quarter as the Warriors (6-12) raced out to a 23-14 lead and held off the Rangers (4-14) at Wells.

Moody also had five steals. Chris Carney, Matthew Ingalls and Alex McCormack-Kuhman added nine points apiece.

Traip was led by Daniel Tokarz with 12 points and Peter Roy with 10.

FALMOUTH 66, KENNEBUNK 30: Tom Coyne and Nick Burton combined for 17 points in the third quarter as the host Yachtsmen (17-1) used a 29-2 run to put away the Rams (6-12).

Burton finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Jack Simonds had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 73, SACOPEE VALLEY 28: Ryan Gullickson scored 14 points to lead a balanced attack for the Raiders (8-10) in a win over the Hawks (5-12) at Fryeburg.

Ben Southwick added 13 points for Fryeburg.

Sacopee was led by Alex Fenderson, who scored 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 66, GARDINER 59: Micah Williamson and Nick DePatsy each scored nine points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers (10-8) engineered a 28-4 run in the final eight minutes to beat the Tigers (10-8) at Gardiner.

DePatsy finished with 25 points and eight rebounds, and Williamson contributed 16 points and six steals. The Panthers were 11 for 12 from the foul line down the stretch.

Seth McFarland led Gardiner with 20 points.

MORSE 70, LINCOLN ACADEMY 56: Ethan Winglass scored 10 of his 23 points in the first quarter as the Shipbuilders (14-4) opened a 25-11 lead on their way to a win over the Eagles (9-9) at Bath.

Jacob Freeman added 16 points and Keegan McDonough had 11 for Morse.

Saywer Pinkham scored 13 points for Lincoln Academy. Devin Scherer finished with 10.

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 54, ACADIA CHRISTIAN 18: Jeremiah Hammond and Eddie Daigneault each scored nine points to pace Greater Portland Christian (3-15) to a win over Acadia Christian (0-15) at Saco.

Hammond, a freshman, also had seven assists and four steals. Daigneault’s nine points were a career high.
