AUGUSTA — Western Maine champion Biddeford won the Class A state cheering championship Saturday at the Augusta Civic Cnter, knocking off three-time defending state and New England champ Lewiston in the process.
The Tigers were followed by Marshwood, Bangor and Lewiston in the 12-team competition.
Hermon claimed the Class B title, edging out Medomak and Ellsworth while Central of East Corinth won the Class C championship. Lisbon finished second followed by Western Maine champion Madison. MOnmouth also competed in Class C, placing 11th.The Class D title went to Central Aroostook, followed by Machias and Penobscot Valley.
