If you want to learn how to publish an e-book, you’re in the right place.

Maine Media Workshops in Rockport has added several classes to its offerings to meet what technologies director Peter Koons describes as “a wave of interest” in new technologies associated with digital publishing.

The classes range from what now seem like fairly basic primers Adobe InDesign and iBooks Author, to advanced classes that teach participants how to make photo books, enhanced e-books and the latest print-on-demand publishing techniques, and more.

The Workshop offer classes on book arts and design from May through the fall.

Among the classes:

Taking the Leap into Enhanced eBooks: Participants will learn how to turn a story into a multi-media, interactive book.

Making Great Photo Books: People will learn how turn personal photos into a coffee-table style display book.

iBooks Author: This class will show participants how to create a digital book for iPad with Apple’s iBooks Author software.

Adobe InDesign: The Workshop offer a quartet of classes about the popular program, including a two-day class that covers the basics, a week-long session that targets print and digital, and two advanced classes that include learning how to make interactive books for the iPad and how to create and use typography.

“The whole topic of e-books is a little daunting, just because it’s a form that is still being sorted out,” Koons said. “This year, we see things starting to mature and we want our offerings to reflect that.”
