Air Force Airman Nathaniel P. Mercier graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Mercier is the son of Trudy Kimball of Shapleigh and is a 2012 graduate of Massabesic High School, Waterboro.

Navy Midshipman Erin M. Bacon, daughter of Glenn and Janice Bacon of York, is scheduled to report to the Littoral Combat Ship USS Coronado (LCS 4) after her May graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. Bacon is a 2008 graduate of Portsmouth Christian Academy, Dover, N.H.

An Occupational Licensing and Job Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4, at the Stevens Avenue Armory, 772 Stevens Ave., Portland. The fair is designed to help current and past military personnel with obtaining state licenses and locating jobs with a focus on four occupations: electricians, plumbers, stationary steam engineers and boiler, oil, propane, natural gas, solid fuel technicians. Military experience can be used toward licensing requirements. Veterans must provide proof of honorable discharge (DD 214). Several employers with open positions will be present and conducting interviews. Attendees should bring a targeted resume, any relevant letters from current and former employers and be prepared for an interview.
