PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Jonathan Viruet of Springfield (Mass.) Central High defeated Cody Hughes of Marshwood 2-1 in overtime on a tiebreaker in the final of the 160-pound class Saturday at the New England championships.

Hughes was third at 152 pounds last season.

Peter DelGallo of Gardiner, who won the 106-pound class last year, dropped to the consolation bracket in his second match, eventually taking fifth with a 1-0 decision over Bradley Beaulieu of Marshwood.

Michael Curtis of Wells won a 2-0 decision over Richard Biladeau of Londonderry, N.H., in the third-place match at 195, and Jackson Howarth of Marshwood placed fifth at 152.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

MCDONALD’S ALL-STAR GAMES: Jayvon Pitts-Young of Portland and Jake Moody of Wells each scored 20 points, pacing the West to a 143-115 victory against the East in the Class A/B McDonald’s high school senior all-star game at Bangor.

The East won the C/D game, 113-105. Jacob Rioux of Van Buren scored 25 points for the East; Warsame Mohamed of Hyde scored 27 for the West.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

MCDONALD’S ALL-STAR GAMES: Allie Clement of McAuley scored 21 points and Tiana-Jo Carter of Lake Region had 16 as the West rolled to an 83-44 win over the East in the Class A/B game.

Raychel Alley of Stearns scored 17 points to help the East take the C/D game, 73-68.
