DOVER, N.H. — A store at a New Hampshire farm that closed several years ago after an 11-generation family put the business up for sale has reopened under new ownership.
Members of the Tuttle family owned the 135-acre farm in Dover since 1632, one of America’s oldest continuously operated family farms. They put the fruit-and-vegetable farm up for sale in the summer of 2010 as they dealt with competition from supermarkets, pick-it-yourself farms and debt.
Foster’s Daily Democrat reports Tendercrop Farm opened its store doors on Saturday, selling meat, produce, and baked goods. The farm is owned by Matt Kozazcki, who bought the business last fall with wishes to honor the Tuttle legacy. He also owns a farm in Newbury, Mass
Former owner Will Tuttle attended the opening. “I am totally comfortable with everything that is going here,” he said. “They are honoring my family well.”
