Falmouth police said they arrested two men Friday and are searching for a third after a homeowner interrupted a burglary at his residence.

When the homeowner got to his house on Merrill Road about 3:40 p.m. Friday, he saw three men taking items from his home, according to Lt. John Kilbride. There was a brief confrontation, Kilbride said, and then the suspects got in their car and started to leave, hitting the homeowner in the leg with the vehicle.

The suspects’ car, however, got stuck in the snow.

One suspect then got in the homeowner’s car – a 2006 gray Lexus with Maine license plate 9600TS – and drove off, leaving the other vehicle and the other two suspects behind, Kilbride said.

One man was arrested down the street by police responding to the homeowner’s call. Police identified him as Paul Cleary-Gagnon, 28, of Arundel and said he was charged with burglary.

A second suspect was arrested after being tracked by a police dog. He was identified as Jeffrey C. Poirier, 32, of Saco and has also been charged with burglary.

Kilbride said Falmouth police know the identity of the third suspect, but as of Friday night, they were still looking for him and the homeowner’s car.

The homeowner suffered minor injuries to his leg, Kilbride said, and was treated at the scene.
