U.S. Sen. Angus King has joined his fellow members of the Senate Climate Action Task Force in speaking on the Senate floor to urge action on climate change.

“Climate change is a very real and dangerous threat to our future and, without action, it will have dire consequences, not only at home in Maine but around the country and the world as well,” Sen. King said March 10.

“As a member of the Senate Climate Action Task Force, I am proud to join my colleagues in speaking on the floor to help raise the profile of this issue in Congress and to help demonstrate our commitment to tackling it head-on.”

In addition to health and environment benefits, we know there is an economic opportunity in taking action, based on two new reports, from Environment America and Environmental Entrepreneurs, that highlight the enormous benefits of investing in clean energy and taking steps to limit the carbon pollution that causes climate change.

Setting limits on carbon pollution from power plants would only create more incentives for investment in clean energy by driving innovation, stimulating economic growth and creating jobs.

Communities across the country are already benefiting from addressing climate change. It’s time to move forward with strong pollution standards. We applaud Sen. King’s leadership on the issue.
