DOVER-FOXCROFT – A mistrial was declared in the case of a Maine mother of 13 charged with trying to hire someone to kill her husband.

Wendy Farley, 48, of Brownville was charged with criminal solicitation for allegedly offering someone several thousand dollars to kill her husband of 30 years in September 2012.

After deliberating for nearly seven hours, a jury Friday was deadlocked, so the judge declared a mistrial, WABI-TV reported.

On Thursday, the jury heard a recording made by a cooperating witness in which Farley said she wanted to make her husband’s death look like a hunting accident. She also said she was having an affair.

Her defense lawyer said although she thought and talked about having her husband killed, she never actually followed through on it.
