Falmouth police say they have identified a man being sought in connection with a burglary and assault at a resident’s home last week.

Police say they are looking for Christopher Girard, 30, as the man who fled a botched burglary in the homeowner’s car. The car was found in Biddeford on Saturday and police believe he is still in the Biddeford area.

Police arrested two men Friday after a homeowner interrupted a burglary at his residence. When the homeowner got to his house on Merrill Road about 3:40 p.m. Friday, he saw three men taking items from his home, according to Lt. John Kilbride.

Following a brief confrontation, the suspects got in their car and tried to leave, hitting the homeowner in the leg with the vehicle.

The suspects’ car, however, got stuck in the snow.

One suspect then got in the homeowner’s car – a 2006 gray Lexus – and drove off, leaving the other vehicle and the other two suspects behind, Kilbride said.

One man was arrested down the street by police responding to the homeowner’s call. Police identified him as Paul Cleary-Gagnon, 28, of Arundel and said he was charged with burglary.

A second suspect was arrested after being tracked by a police dog. He was identified as Jeffrey C. Poirier, 32, of Saco and has also been charged with burglary.
