I see that Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair was given a reprimand and a fine, and no brig time or reduction in rank, after having been charged with forcing a female captain to perform oral sex and threatening to kill her if she told about it (“Army general spared prison time in sexual misconduct case,” March 20). What a joke!

I litigated within the military justice system in my past. What I experienced was best summed up by a book written about the system that was titled “Military Justice is to Justice as Military Music is to Music.”

After the conclusion of his sentencing, the general had the nerve to say “the system worked.” You bet it worked, for his benefit. However, it left me and many others wondering about what it will take for that system to be replaced with a true justice system.
