Millions of dollars are coming to Maine to fund fish and wildlife conservation projects.

U.S. Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins say more than $11 million supporting outdoor recreation comes from programs through the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The money is raised through taxes on the sale of sports gear including firearms, fishing gear and archery equipment. Fuel taxes on motorboats and small engines also contribute to the funds.

The senators say the money will help support the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
