WATERVILLE — John Grimaldi had five goals and four assists, and Derek Youngman added four goals and three assists as Colby topped the University of New England 23-12 in a men’s lacrosse game Tuesday.

Austin Sayre and Jeff Vaz each had a hat trick for Colby (5-4), which outscored UNE 10-0 in the second quarter for a 17-4 lead.

Patrick Wolfe had four goals and two assists for the Nor’easters (3-8).

 

USM 15, HUSSON 2: Tyler Jamison and Austin Watts scored four goals apiece to lead the Huskies (2-6) past the Eagles (3-3) at Gorham.

Burleigh Desjardins added three goals for Southern Maine and Seth Wing had two.

Vinny Visconti and Mark Nardelli scored for Husson.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 18, UNE 6: Abby Hatch had two goals and three assists and six others scored twice for the Mules (5-3) in a rout at Biddeford.

Colby scored seven unanswered goals in a 5½-minute span of the first half to open an 11-3 lead.

Hannah Tavella and Hannah Warren each scored a pair for the Nor’easters (6-4).

SOFTBALL

UNE SPLITS WITH ROGER WILLIAMS: Amanda Vaudreuil went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and three RBI to pace the Nor’easters (10-8) in a 12-4 win over the Hawks (8-8) in the second game of a doubleheader at Bristol, R.I.

Kelly Murphy and Jessica Potter each drove in a pair for UNE, which dropped the first game 5-2.
