Here’s why I’m voting for Eliot Cutler in this year’s race for governor.

First, there’s no doubt in my mind about his management abilities and his ideas, particularly not being tethered to a political party.

Secondly, I think that Mike Michaud’s seniority status in the U.S. House will be lost and the odds that his replacement will win are iffy. This would be a real loss for Maine. I urge Michaud to stay in the House.

Never mind all the usual media distortions emanating from the interest groups – both of these men have talent and, as far as I know, integrity. Let’s skip the back-biting.

Maine has had independents before who have served the state well. Let’s try it again in the governor’s race. In my view, independence is a real virtue.
