STANDISH — Danica Gleason went 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored to pace a 16-hit attack for top-seeded St. Joseph’s College in a 10-4 win over Suffolk in a winner’s bracket game of the GNAC softball tournament on Friday.

Melissa Mayhew added two hits and three RBI for the Monks (31-4), who will host second-seeded Johnson & Wales on at 2 p.m. Saturday. The winner of that game will advance to the championship.

St. Joseph’s also got two hits, two runs scored and an RBI apiece from Lindsay Moore and Theresa Hendrix.

The fifth-seeded Rams fell to 21-22.

KEENE STATE 2, USM 0: Mariah Crisp struck out 14 in a one-hitter and Aliza Guerrero and Morgan Fallon each homered to lift the Owls (12-16, 4-6 Little East) over the Huskies (14-19, 2-10) at Gorham.

Stefanie Stockwell took the loss, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Kristen Duross singled in the second for Southern Maine.

BOWDOIN 9, BATES 1: Cielle Collins went 2 for 2 with two RBI, Emily Griffin added three hits and one RBI, and the Polar Bears (20-11, 6-3 NESCAC) rolled past the Bobcats (8-18, 2-8) at Brunswick.

Melissa DellaTorre threw a three-hitter and struck out nine.

Karen Lockhart paced Bates, going 2 for 3 with an RBI.

TUFTS SWEEPS COLBY: Allyson Fournier threw a no-hitter in the second game and Jo Clair homered in each contest as the defending national champion Jumbos (30-3, 11-0 NESCAC) took 8-1 and 10-0 wins over the Mules (7-18, 1-10) at Waterville.

Fournier had 10 strikeouts and one walk while improving to 14-0. Cassie Ruscz hit a fourth-inning grand slam to lead a two-out, seven-run rally for Tufts. Clair hit a three-run homer in the seventh.

In Game 1, the Jumbos scored all eight runs in the fourth.

BASEBALL

BOWDOIN 4, TUFTS 3: John Lefeber scored three runs and drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 12th as the Polar Bears (17-11-1, 5-5 NESCAC) outlasted the Jumbos (25-3, 6-2) at Brunswick.

Lefeber was 4 for 6 with a double and earned the win by pitching a one-hit 12th.

Erik Jacobsen had two hits and two RBI and drove in Lefeber to tie it in the bottom of the 11th.

Tufts took the lead in the top of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Matt Moser.

MAINE SWEEPS NYIT: Tommy Lawrence and Shaun Coughlin threw shutouts as the Black Bears (16-22) took a pair of 1-0 wins over the Bears (3-35) at Orono.

Lawrence pitched a five-hitter in the opener, walking one and striking out 14. Alex Calbick singled in Troy Black in the sixth.

Coughlin struck out nine and allowed three hits and two walks in Game 2. Colin Gay was 2 for 3 with two doubles, including one in the fourth that drove in Nick Bernardo.

USM SWEEPS KEENE ST.: Matt Verrier went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI in Game 2 to help the Huskies (26-8, 11-1 Little East) sweep the Owls (8-18, 2-10) with 13-1 and 8-3 wins at Keene, N.H.

Sam Dexter had four hits with a home run and two RBI in the opener. John Carey also homered, and Tyler Leavitt worked into the seventh for the Huskies, allowing a run on two hits and three walks.

BATES 5, COLBY 0: Brad Reynolds struck out 12 in his first career complete game as the Bobcats (17-11, 5-3 NESCAC East) blanked the Mules (14-10, 4-6) at Lewiston.

Reynolds gave up four hits and one walk to improve to 5-1.

Greff Tewksbury was 3 for 3 with a two-run double. Rockwell Jackson had two hits and scored twice.
