LINCOLN, N.H. — Officials say rescue crews have carried an injured hiker off a mountain near the town of Lincoln.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says Wendy de Sousa had hiked with a friend to the summit of Mount Pemigewasset on the Indian Head Trail on Monday when she slipped and fell. The 48-year-old Northfield woman suffered a leg injury and called 911.

Officials say rescuers carried De Sousa about a mile to the trailhead, where she was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Officials say De Sousa had the appropriate hiking gear, but recent rain and snow melt may have caused the trail to become slippery.
