GRAY — Brandon Hubbard pitched a six-hit shutout and was helped by three double plays Wednesday as Gray-New Gloucester sent Falmouth to its first Western Maine Conference baseball loss of the season, 2-0.

Gray-New Gloucester (4-2) scored on a suicide squeeze by Tanner Mann in the second inning and a single by Thomas Wood in the fifth against the Yachtsmen (5-1).

 

SACOPEE VALLEY 5, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Brady Anderson had a double and a triple, with an RBI and two runs to lead the Hawks (6-0) over the Seagulls (3-3) at South Hiram.

Anthony Haskell pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts for Sacopee.

KENNEBUNK 2, WELLS 1: Reliever Robbie Burns pitched out of a seventh-inning jam and scored the winning run on a wild throw in the eighth to lift the Rams (3-3) over Wells (4-2) at Kennebunk.

Burns took the mound with two on and no outs in the seventh. He finished the game with three strikeouts.

Starter Ben Lary pitched into the seventh, giving up eight hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Bennie McMinis of Wells struck out six, walked one and allowed six hits through eight innings.

Burns led off the eighth with a bunt single, stole second and scored after a throwing error on Ben Wilson’s bunt.

PORTLAND 5, MARSHWOOD 4: Ryan Ruhlin hit a two-out, three-run double in the fifth inning to give the Bulldogs (3-2) a 5-3 lead against Marshwood (3-2) at Portland.

Owen Pence of Portland pitched into the sixth inning, giving up eight hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

 

TRAIP ACADEMY 12, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 6: Trevor Salema pitched six innings of relief, allowing one run and striking out nine to lead the Rangers (3-2) over the Panthers (0-5) at Yarmouth.

Joe Cavanagh, Alex Foye and Mark Lambrecht each had three of Traip’s 16 singles. Haven Cutko had a pair of hits for NYA.

WESTBROOK 4, MASSABESIC 3: Ethan Nash lined a two-out single to center, scoring Andrew St. Clair with the winning run in the seventh inning as the Blue Blazes (3-1) beat Massabesic (2-3) at Westbrook.

St. Clair reached on a one-run infield single before advancing to third on Austin Blake’s single.

Blake finished with three of Westbrook’s seven hits.

 

DEERING 4, NOBLE 2: Kevin Goldberg drove in three runs as the Rams (2-3) beat Noble (2-3) at Portland.

Goldberg gave Deering the lead with a two-run single in the second inning and brought home another run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Winning pitcher Sam Luebbert scattered nine hits with four strikeouts and one earned run.

 

POLAND 11, LAKE REGION 4: Bill Bickford went 3 for 4 with four RBI to lead Poland (5-1) over Lake Region (0-6) at Naples.

Jake Simard of Poland had six strikeouts, allowed seven hits, two earned runs and three walks.

LACROSSE

YARMOUTH 21, LAKE REGION 1: Bill Jacobs scored three goals to pace the Clippers (3-1) over Lake Region (1-4 ) at Yarmouth.

Sam Morris added two goals.

 

GORHAM 18, MASSABESIC 4: Colin Harvey and Abraham Eaton combined for 12 goals and five assists as the Rams (3-1) cruised past the Mustangs (1-5) at Waterboro.

Carter Landry made 10 saves for Gorham.

 

WINDHAM 17, NOBLE 8: Zach Hough had five goals and two assists, and Griffin Jacobson added four goals and four assists as the Eagles (1-4) eased past the Knights (0-3) at Windham.

Zack Callahan added three goals and an assist, and Hunter Bowen had 11 saves for Windham.

Colin Harrigan scored three goals and Ryer Smith two for Noble.

 

SOUTH PORTLAND 21, WESTBROOK 4: Ben Bilderback had three goals and four assists as the Red Riots (4-0) rolled past the Blue Blazes (2-2) at Westbrook.

Duncan Preston added a pair of goals and four assists, and Ed Hellier made eight saves for South Portland.
