WATERBORO — Rayne Whitten converted Karlie Pike’s pass with six minutes left Thursday to break a tie and lead Massabesic to a 12-10 victory against Cheverus in a schoolgirl lacrosse game.

Whitten, cutting toward the net, quick-sticked Pike’s pass from behind the cage low to the side to give the Mustangs (5-1) an 11-10 lead against Cheverus (4-1).

Whitten finished with four goals and two assists; Delia Sylvain and Miquila DiMastrantonio added three goals each for Massabesic. Elyse Caiazzo and Meredith Willard had three goals apiece for the Stags.

MARSHWOOD 18, NOBLE 5: Brittany Bossi scored five goals for the Hawks (6-1), who took a 13-3 halftime lead and cruised past the Knights (0-6) at North Berwick.

Hannah Folger and Korinne Bohunsky added three goals and two assists apiece for Marshwood.

MORSE 10, OCEANSIDE 6: Isabelle Paulus scored from Sophie Sreden to break a 6-6 tie midway through the second half and the Shipbuilders (5-1) pulled away from the Mariners (3-4) at Rockland.

THORNTON ACADEMY 9, SCARBOROUGH 5: Carly McKenna had four goals and an assist, and Faith Sinclair added three goals to lead the Trojans (4-2) past Scarborough (3-3) at Saco.

Ainsley Jamieson and Kaitlin Prince scored twice each for the Red Storm. Prince also had an assist.

SANFORD 14, MCAULEY 8: Monica Trausch scored four goals as the Spartans (2-4) downed the Lions (1-4) at Sanford.

Brenna Lambert and Courtney Dumont added three goals apiece for Sanford.

GORHAM 14, BONNY EAGLE 7: MacKenzie Collins and Reagan Emerson scored three goals apiece for the Rams (3-3), who pulled away from the Scots (1-5) in the second half at Standish.

Hannah Litif finished with three goals for Bonny Eagle, which trailed 5-4 at halftime.

MT. ARARAT 6, BRUNSWICK 4: Erin Tome scored three goals and Sierra Gilley added two as Mt. Ararat (3-4) beat the Dragons (3-1) at Brunswick.

PORTLAND 13, SOUTH PORTLAND 12: Ella Coose had four goals and one assist to lift the Bulldogs (2-2) over the Red Riots (2-4) at Portland.

Isabel Stehli added three goals and two assists, and Abby O’Brien finished with 12 saves for Portland.

BIDDEFORD 12, WESTBROOK 7: Mia Laflamme finished with five goals, and Taylor Turgeon added four goals and two assists as the Tigers (4-1) downed the Blue Blazes (4-2) at Biddeford.

Emily Boisvert finished with 16 saves for the Tigers, who led 8-1 at halftime.

GARDINER 13, LINCOLN ACADEMY 3: Allyson Day scored four goals and Brooke Curtis added three as the Tigers (4-0) cruised past the Eagles (0-6) at Newcastle.

BASEBALL

BIDDEFORD 7, WESTBROOK 1: Brady Crepeau had three hits and a run, and Corey Brown drove in a pair of runs to lead the Tigers (7-2) over the Blue Blazes (6-2) at Westbrook.

Corey Creeger struck out seven and walked three in a four-hitter for the Tigers.

PORTLAND 9, CHEVERUS 8: Travis Godbout pitched five innings of three-hit relief, allowing the Bulldogs (6-3) to overcome an early 5-1 deficit against the visiting Stags (4-4) at Portland.

Portland tied the game with a four-run third keyed by Evan Gallant’s two-run single, then took an 8-5 lead in the fourth on three walks and two errors by the Stags.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 10, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 4: Thomas Fregeau rapped a double and two singles for three RBI and a run as the Seagulls (4-6) beat NYA (0-7) at Old Orchard Beach.

After the Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first, OOB staged a three-run second capped by Brendon Kaliher’s run-scoring single to right. The Seagulls added a pair of runs in each of the following two innings.

THORNTON ACADEMY 4, NOBLE 3: Evan Wright walked, stole second and scored on a single by Conor Purvis to break a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning, and the Trojans (5-3) held off the Knights (2-7) at Saco.

Ben Lambert had three hits and drove in two runs, and Evan Wright and Purvis added two hits apiece for Thornton. Purvis finished with two RBI and Wright scored twice.

SOUTH PORTLAND 3, WINDHAM 1: Jacob Brown singled, then scored the go-ahead run on a single by Hayden Owen in the fourth inning to lift the Red Riots (8-1) over the Eagles (4-5) at Windham.

Robert Graff of South Portland struck out six and walked one, scattering eight hits. Graff, Brown and Sam Troiano finished with two hits apiece for the Red Riots.

FALMOUTH 12, WELLS 2: Addison Foltmer went 3 for 3 with a triple, double and two RBI to pace a 13-hit offense for the Yachtsmen (6-2) against the Warriors (4-4) in a five-inning game at Falmouth.

Luke Velas added two hits and two RBI for the Yachtsmen, including a walk-off RBI double that capped a nine-run fifth inning.

MARSHWOOD 6, SANFORD 5: Zach Quintal stroked an RBI single during a two-run sixth inning as Marshwood (7-2) opened a 6-3 lead against the Spartans (3-5) at Sanford.

Sanford countered with two runs in the seventh but left the bases loaded when Noah McDaniel induced a groundout.

DEERING 4, SCARBOROUGH 3: Pat Viola followed Kevin Goldberg’s RBI double with a two-run double as the Rams (3-5) opened a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning against Scarborough (3-5) at Portland.

Brendan McNally scored on a passed ball in the fifth for Deering.

SOFTBALL

POLAND 20, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Sarah Walton had a pair of hits, including a home run, and drove home three runs, to lead Poland (6-5) over the Seagulls (0-9) in five innings at Old Orchard Beach.

TRAIP ACADEMY 8, YORK 7: Alli Barrett tripled, then scored when the throw got past the third baseman to break a 7-7 tie in the seventh inning as the Rangers (3-4) edged the Wildcats (0-9) at York.

Barrett finished with three hits, including a home run.
