KITTERY — Jonathan Davis pitched a shutout and struck out seven as Traip Academy beat Old Orchard Beach 6-0 in a high school baseball game Monday.

Traip (7-6) broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the third when Coleman Pelkey rapped a two-out RBI single, took second on the throw home and then scored on Joey Cavanaugh’s single. Traip added three more runs in the fourth on run-scoring singles by Mark Lambrecht and Pelkey.

Josh Schneier had a single and a double, while both Pelkey and Davis had two singles for Traip. Hunter Bouthot laced a double for the Seagulls (5-8). 

POLAND 5, YARMOUTH 0: Lukas Johnson tossed a four-hit shutout, drove in two runs and scored a run as the Knights (10-3) beat Yarmouth (6-6) in Poland.

Johnson drove home Corey Cunliffe and Kaleb Bridgham with a single to left to give Poland a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Knights increased the lead to 3-0 in the second when Cunliffe came home on Jake Simard’s sacrifice fly, and added the final two runs in the fifth when Johnson scored on a balk and Dan Bernier came home on a passed ball.


SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 17, WISCASSET 7: Patti Ryan had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs as the Phoenix (7-7) beat Wiscasset (1-14) in Jay.

LaDesta Tracy, with a pair of hits, also drove in three runs for Spruce Mountain. Briana Goud had two hits for the Wolverines, including a home run.

TRAIP 21, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 3: Alli Barrett’s three-run inside-the-park home highlighted an 11-run third inning, giving the Rangers (5-8) a 16-1 lead over OOB (0-11) in Kittery.

Kaylie Andrews allowed four hits while striking out 10 over a game shortened to five innings. 

GORHAM 5, BONNY EAGLE 1: Amber Cavarretta hit an RBI triple in the first inning as the Rams (7-6) took the lead and beat Bonny Eagle (8-4) in Gorham.

Cavaretta added a pair of singles for Gorham, which stretched its lead to 3-0 in the second. Molly Dufour sparked the rally, legging out an infield hit. Dufour went to second on Melissa Walls’ bunt and scored when Julia Gaudette lined a single. Robinson followed with an RBI single.


GARDINER 14, WINDHAM 12: Josh Caldwell’s six goals led Gardiner (8-2) to a victory over the Eagles (2-7) in Windham.

Logan Clark added two goals and an assist for the Tigers. Griffin Jacobson had four goals and five assists for Windham, and Zach Hough had four goals.
