A tractor trailer truck loaded with Maine potatoes being delivered to Connecticut crashed Tuesday night, spilling its load.

Marc Benoit, 63, of Hampden, Massachusetts, received minor injuries to his legs and was taken to Mid Coast Hospital. He told state troopers and Sagadahoc sheriff’s deputies that he swerved to avoid a moose in the southbound lane of I-295 in Richmond at 10:15 p.m., causing the truck to go into the median, traveled several hundred feet and hit an embankment, coming to rest on the side of the northbound lanes, police said.
